Jean Snedegar

Broadcaster. Writer. Producer.

Jean Snedegar is an independent reporter and producer who got her start at the BBC in London. She has worked on a wide variety of broadcasting projects — hundreds of radio features, more than 30 long-form radio documentaries and seven television documentaries.

Jean typically focuses on human interest stories, profiles of outstanding individuals, and the production, politics and culture of food.  She’s also contributed work in the sciences, the environment, health, business and music.  Jean has written for a number of British newspapers, including The Guardian and The Independent.

After more than 25 years in London, Jean returned to Elkins, West Virginia , her hometown, where she continued to contribute to BBC programming — both on Radio 4 and the BBC World Service — and also to SoundPrint.  In 2007 she also started contributing to West Virginia Public Broadcasting — radio and television.

From 2010 to 2017 Jean produced two series for West Virginia Public Broadcasting — Inspiring West Virginians and the West Virginia Timber Series.
